A Flurph Kind of Welcome
Hello, um... welcome to the first webpage of Flurph News. In Flurph News we will tell you what is going on in the area we are in and what we are doing. Nothing really interesting as yet, except you may find what Flurph means interesting. "Flurph" is the name of Dean Woodward's dog. Well, not really. Her name is Tess, and she's this annoying little Jack Russell. Flurph is more of a nickname, as well as the noise that she makes when humping pillows. She goes "hggn, flurph, hgggn, flurph, HGGGGN, FLURPH!" according to Dean. I've never seen her do it myself, and I don't really want to. Now, why is this page called Flurph News you ask? Actually, I have no idea, we just thought it was a funny word. Flurph! See? I saw you laughing. FLURPH! I saw you laughing again. See how funny it is? ... Hmm, one way of seeing it is that Flurph is the sort of joke that we like, those kind of jokes are a way of life... blah, blah, blah. So, if you put it that way, it's a pretty good name for a news page for what it gives news on. So... um... so there! :p
No News is Not Good News for a News Page That Has Just Started
Hmm, as you might have guessed from the novelty heading, we don't really have any news for you. Which is a shame, since I'd spent so much money at the novelty heading shop to buy the novelty heading especially for this page. Well, I hadn't really spent money, more of a cash-in of a voucher I had left over from Christmas. I think I got it off my uncle. "What am I going to buy at a novelty heading store?" I asked "I don't need a novelty heading!". "You never know when you need a novelty heading!" he had said, and he was right. It would have come in so handy if I had some news for you.
About the people behind Flurph News...
What could be called news, I guess, is some info about us. It'll probably get put up in much more detail in another part of the site a bit later, but this will have to do for now.
Matt Quarterstein: That would be me, the editor of this page. Ooh, that makes me sound all professional! How flattering... Hmm, anyway... I was born in 1983 in Melbourne, Australia and still live there. I do a lot of stuff in my spare time, including writing, drawing and making music. This, however does not make me one of those arty types who is addicted to coffee & hippie beads and writes dumb poetry that doesn't rhyme. No, no, no! Not me at all, so if you're a fan of that, you can go. You'll find out more about me as this site goes on I guess, so I'll move along...
Dean Woodward: The guy who owns Flurph, and everybody's friend. He drives a Datsun, so you'd better watch out. He was also born in 1983 in Melbourne, and I know what that's like. Yeah... Dean is really good at character acting, he has like this genealogy for the characters he acts and everything. He writes as well and is also, very gradually, writing a book, called Time Sliders. Should be good...
Sam Nicson: He really doesn't need an introduction, everybody knows him. Yes, indeed. He doesn't have a dog like Flurph, but he makes up for it with a cat. He does all sorts of stuff too, so much that I can't remember it all, and I have a memory like an elephant! A very good improvisation artist, as well. Incidentally, he was also born in 1983 in Melbourne.
That's all this site is about so far, but there are others who are interested to put their news here too, so watch this space, or if that is too time consuming, let your parrot watch this space and you can go fishing. If you get tired of fishing and want to join the crew at Flurph news, all you need to do is e-mail us.
I'm sorry, but that's all I have for you this week. Not bad considering I didn't really have anything for you. We'll make Flurph News a weekly thing, so I'll see you next week, hopefully with some news. It'll probably have something to do with what our latest project is, and there may or may not be an interview between us. Bookmark us, and come back for a laugh, or sympathy, either is good...
